Banter
I grew up in the cornfields of Ohio, surrounded by a simple life where the only thing that changed was the crop chosen for that next summer. I was living an organic, farm-to-table, back-to-nature lifestyle long before it became trendy. The weather played an integral role in our daily lives, silently shaping our routines, though no one ever talked about it much in detail, it was just the 'forecast'. While leaving this small Ohio town wasn’t something most people discussed often, I knew I was destined for a different path.
When I was 16, a family member moved to Germany, and I seized the opportunity to broaden my country horizon. I lived there for two years, learned the language, and explored Europe with a student Eurail Pass. That experience opened my eyes to a larger world and inspired me to pursue higher education. I returned to Ohio and studied Finance at The Ohio State University. Yet, the “weather bug” inside me never left, so I later attended Mississippi State University to become a meteorologist.
My career journey has been diverse, to say the least. I spent a decade in corporate real estate before transitioning to the residential sector and simultaneously pursued my dream of working in some weather capacity. I wanted to share my passion for meteorology and educate others; that was a great platform. I had the privilege of working under my mentor, Tom Skilling, at WGN. Later, I became the chief meteorologist at a PBS station in the Chicagoland area before working with NBC, where I worked for 18 years. I took a break from television weather in 2023 to pursue my other passions.
Between all of the above, I embarked on more incredible international life experiences. I lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for four years, where I learned Portuguese, and in Santiago, Chile, for a year, where I began my journey with Spanish. Alongside my love for weather, I’m also passionate about music production. I’m currently working on a project that uniquely combines these two passions.
I am always ready to talk about the weather, music, or real estate. I'm using social media as my voice now, with a stadium-size count of followers who keep coming back to hear more about my passions.
